Fallout 4 White Screen On New Game

Oct 17, 2016 The game used to run, even with mods. Not sure if I did something wrong with the mods this time or something else is wrong. I've tried disabling certain mods I felt were causing this but nothing works. Game launches fine, but upon starting a new game the loading happens then I get a black screen. Apr 08, 2019 There are a few reasons why you may be experiencing an issue with black screens when launching Fallout 4 on PC. Before troubleshooting this issue, you should first ensure that your machine meets Fallout 4's system requirements here. Most issues related to game performance can be attributed to hardware. Jul 03, 2018 Loading screen showed up and after a few seconds I Alt-tabbed out of the game to check on something and back into the window and I started hearing some background noise (like a faint dust storm sound from New Vegas), but the loading screen was still up, left it for about a minute (and thought I would be dealing with infinite loading again). Dec 24, 2015 This is a known vanilla issue that happens without the mod. If you have wetness turned on without SSAO, you will get the all white screen whenever it rains. So if you want to turn on wetness, you also need to turn on SSAO. Rain Occlusion must also be ON. Oddly enough, others have said turning wetness OFF fixes the issue. The flashing white screen artifacts are a known Nvidia driver issue conflicting with the way AA and HDR are implemented in-game. I think it only effects 400-series cards. In the short term, you can turn off either AA or HDR to make it go away. Nvidia is apparently working on a new driver to fix this.

Fallout 4 full screen fix

If you are playing on a laptop and the above instructions did not force the game to run off your dedicated GPU, then you may have to configure some of your power saving features.
Power saving features will sometimes override high-performance profiles to save battery life. When the computer attempts to save battery life, it will switch to the integrated card because it does not require as many resources to run. You can resolve this by following the process below:

  1. Press the Battery icon in the notification area of your taskbar.
  2. Select More power options... and then expand the Show additional plans section.
  3. Select High performance and then close the window.
  4. Plug in your power cable to ensure that your battery does not run low while playing.

Check the System's Anti-virus Software

It is possible that your anti-virus software is causing Fallout 4 to crash on launch. To resolve this, we recommend adding Fallout 4 as an exception. If you are unsure about how to adding a game to your anti-virus' exception list, you should contact the software developer for support.

We also recommend adding an exception to Steam to help prevent any future issues related to downloading the game.
